Sound Art Clip

Quartet (2004) is a 55-minute sound art piece.  Umland made a series of 55 line drawings on graph paper, which were replicated in PowerPoint and served as a score for computer-generated sound.  Each line is assigned a tone. On the graph paper, the vertical axis is pitch; the horizontal axis is time.  Tones rise and fall as their associated lines move up or down across the page.
